Back to Yoga….actually how to be grateful even in the midst of chaos

Today, I finally made it back to Yoga. It has been a while…not only was my body craving it, but also my spirit. Today practice revolved around the following idea: Even if life hands you sh…, find a way to be grateful for what you still have, be joyful and try to find your happiness in the midst of chaos. So immediately several things came to my mind.

First of all: my beautiful boy. He spends most of the time with me, he is taking all this change like a trooper, he is healthy and mostly joyful. And even in one room we still manage to build forts and play pirates and. He is the light of my life.

My sister and her family in Germany who we miss dearly after having spent almost 4 weeks with them. One of the toughest parts of immigrating is to be away from close family. However, even after 15 years of living on two different continents, we remain as close as ever, if not closer. My niece and nephews have become so close with Luke, he learns from them, he adores them, they fight, they make up, they love each other…this is worth more than I can say.

My parents who support me in every way they can.

My very good friends George and Rachel Freitag of the Elizabeth Lake Lodge (www.elizabethlakelodge.com) who gave us a place to stay when we had nowhere else to go. They are wonderful people who run a fantastic hotel. If you ever need a place to stay in Cranbrook, this is the best choice. Their two boys, Paul and Lochlan, who are always ready to play with Luke.

My many friends from far and near who offer moral support, invitations to dinner etc. You know who you are.

Others who have given me breaks, told me “we will catch up when you are in a better position”, I appreciate all the help and support.

Have there been disappointments, hurt, betrayal and other things? Of course there have. Do I want to dwell on those and start a downward spiral? Certainly not. It is very easy and sometimes tempting to fall into this pattern, of focusing on the negative, feeling sorry for yourself. But guess what? You will get more of it, if you focus on it. Get yourself in the vibration that you want to attract. That is the secret. As Albert Einstein put it:

“Everything is energy. And that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is NOT philosophy, this is physics.”

What do YOU want? How do YOU want to feel? Whatever it is, YOU have to go after it…
